Description
Pate's Grammar School Foundation was set up in 1586 by Richard Pate, one of the county’s most influential men, 'for the perpetual maintenance and foundation of a free Grammar School at Cheltenham and also a Hospital or Almshouse for six old poor people’. The Foundation endows Pate’s Grammar School and also owns and operates the Richard Pate School, an independent preparatory school in Leckhampton.
