Consultation process
To revoke a number of Supplementary Planning Guidance notes (SPGs) and Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs). Over approximately the past 30 years, Cheltenham Borough Council has produced a number of SPGs and SPDs to help guide development. Planning guidance such as SPGs and SPDs are capable of being a material consideration in decision making.
Some of these documents have become increasingly out of date and some of them are based on policies in the Development Plan that no longer exist. Furthermore, various national planning changes have taken place.
Cheltenham Borough Council is in the process of updating its website and it is therefore considered an opportune time to review the current suite of SPGs and SPDs and revoke any that are no longer relevant. This will provide clarity for all users of the planning system.
Consultees
There is no statutory requirement to publicly consult on this but will include engagement with the Planning and Liaison Member Working Group.
