Decision details
Approve draft Street Trading Licensing policy for Consultation
Decision Maker: Cabinet Member Safety and Communities
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
To approve the revised Street Trading
Licensing Policy for public consultation.
Reasons for the decision:
The authority’s Street Trading Licensing
Policy was adopted in 2020. It is good practice to revise the
document every 3 years.
The document has been updated:
• to meet accessibility requirements
• offer more advice for applicants
• offer a short-term consent for race day trading in prime
areas
• remove zones – applications are assessed on a
case-by-case basis
• There is also a change to the current invoicing arrangements
for traders in that they will pay for the annual charge rather than
trading days.
Alternative options considered:
Consultation is a statutory requirement.
Seeking adoption without consultation will place the authority at
significant risk of legal challenge.
Declarations: none
