To enter into a servicing contract with HJS for door entry systems.
Decision Maker: Director of Governance, Housing and Communities and Monitoring Officer - Claire Hughes
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
To enter into a servicing contract with HJS
for door entry systems.
Reasons for the decision:
This contract will enable Cheltenham Borough
Council to enter into a door entry service agreement with Harold
Jones Services (HJS). This will ensure that all our door entry
systems are fully compliant with fire safety regulations and in
good working order. We will also have a full stock condition after
the programme has finished which will pinpoint where upgrades and
remedial works need to occur to ensure that our tenants are safe.
HJS currently carries out repairs on the council’s door entry
systems meaning that they have a good knowledge of our stock and
the way the council works as a whole.
This decision notice provides the relevant authority to enter in
the relevant contract with Harold Jones Services (HJS)
Alternative options considered:
The council has considered using our in-house
electrical team to complete this work, but they do not have the
capacity or technical expertise to be able to service all door
entry systems.
Finance Comments: Harold Jones Services currently oversee all repairs and planned works in respect of the door entry systems and coupled with their knowledge of Cheltenham Borough Council’s stock are the preferred supplier for the door entry service agreement. The contract will ensure that the councils door entry systems remain fit for purpose and compliant with fire safety regulations.
