Advertising Notice of Council's intention to appropriate land at Priors Farm

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

Approval to the advertising of a notice of the Council’s intention to appropriate land at Priors Farm, for the purpose of creating a new access to the proposed crematorium.

Reasons for the decision:

To facilitate the provision of a road serving the new crematoria. Consultants have suggested two potential new access routes to the new crematorium which cross Priors Farm Playing Field. As the land forms part of the land used for the purposes of public recreation, the Council must advertise its intention to appropriate land due to Section 122 (2A) Local Government Act 1972 and consider any objections received before making a decision about appropriation.

Alternative options considered:

This advertisement is required by statute. Cabinet will make the final decision about the location of any new access to the new crematorium once feasibility work has been completed and following consideration of any objections received. If land is to be appropriated, it will only be done so once full planning permission for the new crematorium and the new access is received.
