Decision details
To enter into a contract with Eibe Play Ltd for Montpellier Gardens playground
Decision Maker: Director of Community & Economic Development - Tracey Birkinshaw
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
Acceptance of tender submission and entering a
contract with Eibe Play Ltd for the value of £24,931.99
Reasons for the decision:
To enable the Council to deliver its
playground capital improvement program, it is necessary to enter
into a contract with a third party to supply and install playground
equipment and associated safety surfacing at Montpellier Gardens
playground. A procurement exercise has taken place and following
receipt of 6 bids, Eibe Play Ltd was selected. This decision notice
provides the relevant authority to enter into the relevant contract
with Eibe Play Ltd.
Alternative options considered:
Another consideration was to revamp the
existing playground unit using the existing manufacturer. The cost
of this option was similar to the value of a new playground unit
and therefor this procurement exercise was undertaken to refresh
and modernise the playground and improve the quality and safety
standards.
Declarations: None.
Other reasons / organisations consulted
Montpellier Gardens is one the town’s
most prestigious parks and heavily used playgrounds. The
improvements have been guided by observation and discussions with
users of the playground and the council’s playground
technical officer.
Eight specialist playground companies were directly invited to
submit quotations for this project. This is part of the council's
approved budget 2024-25 Appendix 6 – capital programme -
CAP102 play area enhancement program budget 2024-25.
