Decision:
To enter into a funding agreement with Enovert Community Trust to receive
the sum of £25,000.
Reasons for the decision:
The Friends of Naunton Park have successfully applied to Enovert
Community Trust for a grant of £25,000 towards the construction of a
path, swale and landscaping at Naunton Park, Cheltenham.
The remaining project budget is derived from CBC’s own capital funds
(£25K), GCC Build Back Better (£18.5k), Royal Sun Alliance
Insurance through The Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust (£13.5K).
Enovert Community Trust provides grants to support community and
environmental projects in a number of locations across the UK. The
Trust provides funding to a broad range of projects that bring
environmental benefits and have as big an impact as possible on the
community.
The Trust distributes funds which are derived from a tax placed on the
landfilling of waste and has distributed more than £25.2 million in
grants to community and environmental projects to date.
Alternative options considered:
To decline the grant, and not undertake the work. Rejected, as the scheme
supports the Council’s wider corporate climate change, and healthy living
objectives, and those of local members and community.
Other reasons / organisations consulted
The scheme received wide support from the local community who were
supportive of an all-weather circular path, biodiversity, and habitat
improvements.
Consultees
The scheme was widely consulted upon utilising site notices and the
Council’s Citizen Space platform. The scheme also went through the
planning process and included statutory consultation as part of this.
