Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: Yes

Decision:

To award a contract to Motus Commercials Ltd to supply 1 x  Isuzu N75 150 7.5t Chassis c/w CWS Recycling Stillage Vehicle for £115,542 plus VAT and RFL and 1st Registration Fee @ £220.00 Total cost is £115,762.00

Procurement was undertaken by Ubico via the TPPL framework.

Reasons for the decision:

Ubico, the Councils environmental services provider partner, operate the Council owned waste and recycling fleet which collect waste and recycling across the borough.  On this years vehicle replacement plan there is a 7.5t Mitsubishi Fuso Recycling Vehicle, DK57 HZX which is due for replacement as it is now 16 year old , becoming more un-reliable and more costly to repair.

This vehicle will be fitted with the latest Euro 6 diesel engine and be fuelled by HVO not diesel.  In addition this vehicle will be fitted with eco driving telematics to deliver more efficient driving techniques which will further reduce carbon emissions and raise mpg.

The Cabinet report approving the use of HVO instead of diesel to support net zero dated 30 November 2021 refers.  The report also acknowledges that HVO is an interim step until, in the long term, charging infrastructure is available at the depot site for the whole fleet of heavy vehicles.

Procurement was undertaken by Ubico via the TPPL framework.
