A contract be awarded to Toyota GB Ltd. for the supply of 2 x small electric panel vans

Decision status: For Determination

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

A contract be awarded to Toyota GB Ltd. for the supply of 2 x small electric panel vans at a cost of £26,272.83 each VAT plus £55.00 each

Total Capital Expenditure £52,655.66

The above figures include the current OZEV government grant of £2,500.00 per vehicle purchased.

Reasons for the decision:

Ubico, on behalf of Cheltenham Borough Council operate a number of small panel vans to deliver services across the borough.  On this year’s capital replacement plan there are two small internal combustion engine vans, a Vauxhall Combo registration number VF55SYX and a Ford Transit Connect registration number VE54UZH due for replacement.  VF55SYX has already been disposed of as it was beyond economical repair.

These vehicles have both been identified as being suitable vehicles to be replaced by electric vehicles which are available on the market at this time.  Unfortunately a previous award for two electric vehicles was cancelled by a different manufacturer.

Alternative options considered:

Officers have considered whether the service could continue to be delivered without these vehicles and concluded that it could not

Wards Affected: (All Wards);

Other reasons / organisations consulted

Officers and the cabinet member agree there is a need to procure these vehicles.
