Decision details

To award a contract to Renault UK Ltd for the supply of 1 x L2H2 Diesel Panel Van, to be delivered asap, in sum of £35,847.10 plus first Reg and Road Fund Licence @ £330.00.

Total capital expenditure:  £36,177.20

All as per tender submission number UN10892 to the TPPL Framework.

The vehicle forms part of the Ubico fleet which has already been disposed of some time ago and now needs replacing.

This vehicle to be purchased is an L2H2 Panel Van which will be used to transport the static pressure washer and water tank, that has already been purchased and will be used by Ubico’s Streets team.

Climate Emergency – currently there are no other suitable alternative fuel vehicles available of this size on the market.  The new vehicle will have Euro 6 Diesel Engine which are the cleanest and greenest diesel engine currently available; these vehicles also have the capability of running on HVO.  This will be funded from within the existing capital budget provision for 2020/21 and the necessary procurement processes have been followed.

Officers have considered whether the service could continue to be delivered without this vehicle and concluded that it could not.

Internal consultation has taken place. The Cabinet Member Waste, Recycling and Street Services has been consulted.

Officers and the cabinet member agree there is a need to procure the vehicle.
