Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

Farol Ltd be awarded the contract for 2 No. Scag 32” self-propelled mowers for the sum of £6936.74 each plus VAT to be delivered ASAP.

Total Capital Expenditure £13873.48 plus VAT.

Reasons for the decision:

The Council’s environmental services provider, Ubico, operate a number of different types of mowers to deliver grounds maintenance activities across Cheltenham.  The Existing Scag 32” self-propelled mowers are now over 10 years old and are at the end of their natural life becoming unreliable and more costly to repair therefore needs replacing.

Ubico have conducted a tender exercise via the TPPL framework to procure this equipment which will be funded from within the existing capital replacement budget for 2021/22.

At the current time there are no alternative fuel types of this machine available in the market place.

Alternative options considered:

Officers have considered whether the service could be continued to be delivered cost effectively without this equipment and concluded that it could not.  It is considered appropriate to procure these mowers until alternatives are available within available budgets.

Wards Affected: (All Wards);

Other reasons / organisations consulted

Officers and the Cabinet Member agree there is a need to procure this equipment to continue delivering services.
