To award a contract to A&E Fire and Security to supply and install a new fixed wire fire alarm system at Pittville Pump Room.
Reasons for the decision:
The current fire alarm system is suffering from an intermittent fault due to the existing wiring which could result in potential failure of the system. A new fire alarm system is therefore urgently required. A waiver has been approved to award the contract to the contractor without prior competition due to the urgency of the matter.
Alternative options considered:
To go down the usual CBC tendering/procurement route which will cause delays and the building becoming unsafe.
