Decision:

To extend the Test and Trace Support Payment Scheme to 30 June 2021

Reasons for the decision:

NHS Test and Trace provided funding for a national “Standard” Test and Trace Support Payment Scheme and a Discretionary scheme.

On 13 October 2020 Cabinet approved the Discretionary Test and Trace Support Payment Scheme and authorised the Cabinet Member Finance and Assets, to extend the scheme beyond 31 January 2021, in line with Government direction and subject to funding being available.

Confirmation has now been received from NHS Test and Trace that both the standard and discretionary scheme will be extended to 30 June 2021. In addition, the eligibility criteria for both schemes is being extended to include parents and guardians unable work whilst caring for a child who lives in the same household and is required to self-isolate.

Additional funding has been made available for the discretionary scheme and will be provided for the standard scheme as required.

Alternative options considered:

The alternative is not to extend the scheme but as funding is available this is rejected.
