To appoint Kava Media Ltd for the design and development of Golden Valley Development Magazine each quarter

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

Following procurement process to appoint Kava Media Ltd for external consultancy services for the design and creation of four quarterly editions of a Golden Valley Development community magazine that will be available in both digital and physical formats, the latter for distribution to local residents and particularly those who may be digitally excluded. To include an initial print run of physical 500 physical copies. Additional copies and wider distribution would be at additional cost.

Reasons for the decision:

An important requirement has been identified to promote the Golden Valley scheme to the local community and to garner their interest and support as part of a wider engagement programme.

Alternative options considered:

           In house production  - rejected due the need for specialist skills

           A single issue magazine as a ‘one-off’ exercise  – rejected due to need to maintain a narrative over a period of time leading up to the transition to our selected development partner.

           Single page articles in local magazines/use of existing publications/channels to provide content – rejected due to the risk that the messages would be significantly diluted.

Wards Affected: (All Wards);

Other reasons / organisations consulted

It was confirmed that internal resource was not available to deliver the requirements to support the Golden Valley programme and therefore it was agreed to commission a piece of work to last for a period of 12 months to create four editions of the Golden Valley Community Magazine
