Decision:

1. Appoint the following Councillors to the Cabinet of Cheltenham Borough Council :

Councillor Atherstone as Cabinet Member Economy and Development

and

Councillor Wilkinson as Cabinet Member Climate and Communities

2. Note that Councillor McKinlay’s portfolio is renamed Cabinet Member Cyber and Safety

Reasons for the decision:

On 17 February 2020 Council resolved to amend the Constitution to provide that “the Cabinet shall consist of the Leader of the Council together with at least two, but not more than nine Councillors”, allowing the introduction of two new portfolios for the climate emergency and the economic development in West Cheltenham.

The climate and communities portfolio will help make sure local communities are at the forefront of the essential work on tackling climate change. The economy and development portfolio will help drive forward plans for a strong economy and protect and promote Cheltenham as a great place to live and work.
