Decision:
To purchase 7 no. additional parking machines from Metric Group Ltd via the ESPO Framework 509 Lot 1 – including the installation of a total of 11 no. machines, which includes 4 no. machines previously purchased and kept in storage. Total contract sum of approximately £31,000.
Reasons for the decision:
To further the objectives of the Town Access and Parking Strategy approved by Cabinet in June 2017.
Alternative options considered:
· Purchase through alternative tendering arrangement – this would have been more time-consuming and complex and would not have allowed purchase in line with existing provider arrangements, thereby complicating long term maintenance arrangements.
· Purchase through previous supplier – rejected due to concerns regarding customer service and extent of ability to interrogate systems remotely.
Other reasons / organisations consulted
Extensive consultation took place in relation to the overarching strategy, which delegated authority to the Director of Environment, in consultation with the Cabinet member for Development and Safety to progress actions detailed in the strategy.
Cabinet member is in support of the decision.
