Decision:
To enter into an agreement with Gloucestershire County Council for the administration of Land Drainage enforcement and consenting responsibilities associated with ordinary watercourses for the period 1st April 2018 to 31st March 2019.
Reasons for the decision:
For the generation of income (£22k per annum) and to ensure effective service delivery within the borough.
This is the fourth year Cheltenham Borough Council will have entered into an agreement with Gloucestershire County Council for the administration of Land Drainage enforcement and consenting responsibilities associated with ordinary watercourses.
This is a retrospective decision in light of works delivered by Cheltenham Borough Council on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council for 2018/19.
Alternative options considered:
Decline opportunity to enter into agreement, resulting in missed income opportunity. The Council’s flood risk engineer has advised that this work can be undertaken without undue impact on other CBC priorities relating to this work area.
Other reasons / organisations consulted
Agreement on capacity to fulfil obligations.
