Decision:

To appoint Grant Thornton as Auditors for the Housing Benefit Subsidy Assurance Process for the financial years 2019/20 – 2022/23.

Reasons for the decision:

Grant Thornton are already appointed as the Council’s main auditors for the financial years up to and including 2022/23. Appointing them to audit the housing benefit subsidy claim for the same period will be more efficient and provide economies of scale from a staff resource perspective.

Alternative options considered:

A procurement exercise to appoint a separate auditor has been rejected in the interests of consistency, efficiency and best use of staff resource.
