Places of Safety

Decision status: Recommendations Approved

Is Key decision?: No

Is subject to call in?: No

Decision:

To enter into the Inter Authority Agreement appointing the Forest of Dean District Council as the Lead Authority and agree to collaborate in the delivery of services associated with the Places of Safety Domestic Abuse Services Project, with the Forest of Dean District Council, Tewkesbury Borough Council, The Council of the City of Gloucester, Cotswold District Council, and Stroud District Council.

Reasons for the decision:

To strengthen the county refuge provision for those fleeing domestic abuse following the successful funding bid for £500,000 to the DCLG by the local authorities in Gloucestershire.  The agreement will facilitate the use of the funding to finance Greensquare/GDASS to lease 12 two bedroom properties across Gloucestershire (two properties in each authority) for the purpose of providing emergency self-contained places of safety with support from Gloucestershire Domestic Abuse Support Service (GDASS).

This decision has no financial impact on Cheltenham Borough Council as the funding awarded is additional to core budgets and held and administered from the Forest of Dean District Council.
