Decision details
Award of grant to the Cheltenham Trust for replacement gym equipment
Decision Maker: Cabinet Member Economic Development, Wellbeing and Culture
Decision status: Recommendations Approved
Is Key decision?: No
Is subject to call in?: No
Decision:
- To award a capital grant of £244,390
to The Cheltenham Trust for the replacement of gym equipment and
refurbishment work at Leisure@ Cheltenham.
- To enter into a grant agreement with the Cheltenham Trust that
will specify how the grant is to be used.
- To delegate authority to the Director of Finance and Assets in
Consultation with the Cabinet Member for Economic Development,
Wellbeing and Culture and the Director of One Legal to agree the
final wording of the grant agreement and enter into any legal
arrangements or other documentation as may be required to implement
or facilitate the project.
Reasons for the decision:
The use of the grant for the replacement of
the gym equipment and refurbishment work at will create an enhanced
experience for visitors to the Council owned leisure centre as well
creating a more commercial offer for The Cheltenham Trust to
support their financial sustainability.
Alternative options considered:
The alternative option is to ringfence the
monies for a different purpose. This has been discounted as the gym
equipment is at end of life and the business case provided by the
Cheltenham Trust demonstrates that the replacement would generate
greater footfall for the building, generating increased levels of
income for the charity.
Declarations: None.
