Decision:

To extend the appointment of Kendall Kingscott Architects for the provision of Stage 3+ services for the redevelopment of 1-3 Monkscroft Villas, Princess Elizabeth Way, at a further fee of £16,825.00.

Reasons for the decision:

Based on the historic appointment of KKS on the scheme up to planning submission and to ensure the timely delivery of the scheme and thus the use of RTB receipts.

 

Alternative options considered:

Source quotes from other architects. This was rejected on the grounds that there would be issues with the ability to rely on planning drawings compiled by a different architect and in turn issues in securing a collateral warranty on work completed by a different architect’s practice.

 

Rely merely on planning drawings for tendering purposes. This was rejected on the basis that this would mean a lack of details provided to the contractor. Tender received may be varied as the detailed specification is not stipulated leading to it being difficult to compare tender submissions and ultimately it would lead to significant contractors proposals being put forward with an associated increase in costs.

Agree to pursue a waiver to extend the appointment of KKS.
